Searching for jobs ain't easy.

I've been in LA for 2 months today exactly. Life has been good. The fella and I are getting used to being together all the time after two years of being long-distance. We haven't had any arguments yet, but we have had disagreements. I've also found that I have some pretty bad habits. I am a nagger as well as ridiculously bossy. I told my guy to just ignore me. When I am bossy, it seems to slip out of my mouth before I'm able to process what I'm about to say. It is like my first instinct is that he will mess something up or forget something, or explode if I don't tell him what to do. I know I get this from my mother. I'm working on stopping.

I have applied for over 25 different positions. These are mostly part time jobs, but I've also looked at full-time positions. I was so desperate at one point that I went to the nearest mall and applied for retail jobs, which I swore I'd never go back to. Luckily I found my dream/nightmare job!!

I have been hired at a local non-profit that serves runaway, homeless, and foster teens who are in crisis. It is exactly the experience I need for researching my dissertation topic. However, I can always find the awful in everything, I guess it is a gift. Now I'm nervous about my fingerprint clearance not going through (irrational) and whether or not some homeless kid will call me a "Bitch" and if I will cry when that happens (stupid).

I am immensely grateful that I have found a (low) paying job in a time when seemingly no one can get a job. I have several family members with mortgages and children who have been out of work for months. My brother has been "let-go" and unemployed several times in the last 10 years. It isn't fun not having a paycheck and absolutely nothing makes me feel more scared. My savings are dwindling so I needed this job. Poor fella has had to pay for everything. It will feel very good when I can give him rent money.
